Enjoy a relaxed live poetry performance featuring participants from the Writing with Robbie workshops. During January and February, spoken-word artist Robert Gillet facilitated four writing sessions exploring journalling and poetry as ways to share thoughts, stories and experiences. The performance offers an honest, welcoming glimpse into everyday community voices, celebrating creativity, self-expression and connection in an informal, supportive setting. A large handmade community book with thoughts, reflection and short poems from the wider community will also be available to view.

Supported by Cornwall Mind’s Reading Room.

Writing with Robbie is a creative wellbeing project led by spoken-word artist Robbie (Beneath The Tracksuit), developed as part of Flamm. The project invites local people to explore journalling and free-verse poetry as tools for self-expression, reflection, and connection, laughs and wonder, without the pressure or rules often associated with traditional poetry.

Across four small, supportive workshops at the Reading Room, participants are guided to write honestly and freely, starting from personal journalling and shaping their words into expressive poems with the opportunity to perform during Flamm. No previous writing experience is needed, and sharing is always optional. The focus is on voice, authenticity, and creating a safe space where people can write as they are.

Alongside the workshops, a large handmade community book will be available throughout February, inviting the wider public to contribute thoughts, reflections and short poems. The project culminates in a relaxed sharing event, offering participants the chance to have their work heard in a supportive environment.

At its heart, the project celebrates everyday voices and places community experience at the centre of the festival.

Practicalities: The site is wheelchair accessible.
