Commissions & Invited Projects

For Flamm 2026, we have commissioned new works by Cornwall-based artists Nicola Bealing, Rachael Jones, Alice Mahoney, Rebecca Proctor and Carlos Zapata responding to our theme of [Dis]Location. They are joined by three co-commissions with partners Experience Bodmin and Counterpoint Arts, led by artists Georgia Gendall, SHARP and Small Acts x Kitty Hillier, and two invited projects from Liverpool Biennial 2025 by artists Amber Akaunu and Linda Lamignan.

  • Dear Othermother – Amber Akaunu

    A film telling a deeply personal tale of single motherhood in Toxteth, Liverpool.

  • The Hanging Baskets of Bodmin – Nicola Bealing

    An invasion of ghostly hanging baskets has colonised the platform of Bodmin General Station.

  • Change Here – Georgia Gendall

    Set aboard the Bodmin Railway, Change Here transforms the train’s announcement system into a fictional conversation between two train conductors.

  • Keepers – Rachael Jones

    A film installation revealing carefully chosen items from Bodmin Keep's collection and archives, chosen by Keep staff and volunteers.

  • Touched by the trees in a forest of eyes – Linda Lamignan

    A multi-screen video work exploring how the idea of land as a resource has been perpetuated throughout time.

  • Spout – Alice Mahoney

    An immersive installation involving light, sound, sculpture, and film developed through a series of guided walks exploring Bodmin’s watery past, present, and future.

  • Free as a Bird – Rebecca Proctor

    Sculpture inspired by Rose Wright, a 19th century inmate of Bodmin Jail, who, according to legend, put a curse on both the prison and the town of Bodmin.

  • Once We Were Held – SHARP

    An immersive installation of sound, sculpture and LGBTQIA+ history.

  • Re:Rooted – Small Acts x Kitty Hillier

    A participatory moving sculpture that playfully reroutes audiences as it journeys across Bodmin.

  • Dislocated Dresser – Carlos Zapata

    Everyday objects transform into playful, surprising automata in captivating, hand‑crafted kinetic installation.
