For Flamm, Lowry is imagining how the future of Redruth might look if it appropriated Rapid Transport systems that exist and are being developed in cities and large urban conurbations around the country. He is exploring utilising some of the existing, old mining network to create connectivity between Redruth and Camborne, and referencing the route of the electric tramway that existed between 1902 and 1934.

About the Artist

Patrick Lowry moved to Cornwall when offered a lecturing post at Falmouth College of Art. He subsequently established and ran a Fine Art Degree course at Cornwall College. He now spends the majority of his time in the studio making large-scale often site-specific installation pieces, which explore our relationships to places and environments within social and political contexts.

In 2009, along with two other artists, he established the artist-led project space Back Lane West, which, through a residency programme, offers local, national and international artists the opportunity of developing new work in the context of a project and exhibition space in Cornwall.
